See our Cookie policy for detail.

Information about a young person’s needs

Our enquiry form invites you to tell us what you would like us to understand about your young person. Many families use it to describe educational, emotional or medical needs, and this may include a diagnosis.

Information about health, including a diagnosis of ADHD, autism, dyslexia or any other condition, is treated as a special category of personal data under data protection law. It receives additional protection.

We do not require you to give us this information in order to enquire. You can tell us as much or as little as you wish, and you can raise anything sensitive in conversation rather than in writing. Where you do choose to share it through the form, we rely on your explicit consent to process it.

Information about children

Where a parent or guardian enquires, the personal data of the young person is provided by the adult, and we deal with the adult.

Where a young person contacts us directly, additional protections apply. Portuguese law sets the age at which a child can consent to online services at 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through the website other than the information a parent or guardian provides about them.

Lotus Academy is based in Portugal and serves families internationally. Some of our service providers are based outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States.

Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on approved transfer arrangements, including European Commission adequacy decisions where they apply and standard contractual clauses where they do not.

We delete or anonymise personal data when we no longer need it.

8. Your rights

Under data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
